Otto de Souza Aguiar was born in Brazil in 1938. He received his Master's degree from the University of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro. He is renowned for the masterful integration of trompe l'oeil (a technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three dimensions). His subjects have an elegant fashion and theatrical artistry which reflects his theatrical background with an Art Deco flavor. Aguiar’s use of color combined with the romantic influence of his native country adds a distinctive charm and allure to his artwork. Aguiar was Commissioned to create his works for various corporate locations and parks throughout Florida, Washington DC and the Bahamas. He died in 2006.
