Edna Hibel, born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1917, began painting at the age of 9 and was educated at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. Edna began pulling stone lithographs in 1966 in Boston and then moved to work in Zurich in 1970. She continues to work in Switzerland. The Hibel Museum is located in Florida. In 1995, she was commissioned by the Foundation of the U.S. National Archives to commemorate 75 years of women receiving the universal right to vote. Ms. Lucy Baines Johnson referred to Hibel as the "Heart and Conscience of America.” Edna Hibel was the honored artist in 2009 at the Literacy for Children Foundation, founded by Barbara Bush and has been commissioned to paint for that organization. Hibel's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in more than 20 countries including Russia, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, and the United States, and under the royal patronage of Count and Countess Bernadotte of Germany, Count Thor Bonde of Sweden, Prince and the late Princess Rainier of Monaco and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England. Pope John Paul II gave her a medal of honor for all her charitable work.
Hibel is probably best known for her prolific paintings and lithographs of mother and child depictions. Some of her works are extremely rare, such as the lovely “Jimmy Buddha” shown below. We are privileged to be able to offer her art works which will add a peacefulness to your home or office, while continuing to increase in value over time. The greatest advantage is the ability to purchase a Hibel piece at a discounted price. Each comes with a Certificate of Authenticity or other documentation, ensuring the genuine value of the work.
