Pierre-Auguste Renoir is one of the most renowned impressionist artists of all time. Born in France in 1841, he began painting as a child and later became a student at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Renoir had a love of painting people, often depicting the vitality and romance of Parisian life. Toward the end of his life, Renoir's talents extended to producing sculptures.
Renoir's works are mostly found in museums throughout the world. His grandson, Paul Renoir, elected to release select works done by his grandfather through limited edition, hand-pulled lithography, capturing all the unique qualities of the original oil paintings. His two sculptures of Coco were the only sculpted works done entirely by his own hands.
