Victor Valla is an artist-educator of French and Danish heritage. He is married to Justine Armanini Valla, a textile print designer and craftsperson. His BFA in Painting and Illustration is from RIT in Rochester, NY and his MFA in Painting and Printmaking was earned on scholarship grants at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. As a post-graduate, while on a Tiffany Foundation Grant in Paris, he studied printmaking at the famed Atelier 57. He has taught full-time in Graphic Design, Illustration, and Art History programs at several of the finest art schools in the United States. Valla is also an author and is soon to market a new manuscript series (a thriller trilogy) that he has been researching and writing for over 2 years.
Victor Valla has gained a reputation for his talent in viscerally depicting themes in his murals, paintings and illustrations. His outstanding ability to capture detail, style and imagery are very evident in his commemorative art through his paintings and well-researched historical images. Valla became so well-recognized in this field that in the late 1990s, he was commissioned by The Postal Commemorative Society to produce 100 original paintings in a series entitled “A History of the American West”. The subjects of this incredible project included statehood, territorial expansion, Western figures, such as Sitting Bull, General Custer, Lewis & Clark, and Wild Bill Cody, along with U.S. Presidents and milestone dates and battles.
Presently, Valla has painted for only very high profile clients, elite hotels, spas, restaurants and corporations, as well as for government agencies. His illustrations have been used by book publishers and newspapers. Individuals have sought him out to create custom works of art for their private homes or collection. However, Valla has now agreed to sell some of his fabulous pieces, allowing others to enjoy his art in their home or office at an affordable price. Decades of Invention by Victor VallaDecades of Invention is a “timeline style” painting by Victor Valla was created in 1981. It was used by the Dolph Chemical Corporation of New Jersey in a lavish corporate sales brochure, depicting major breakthrough inventions over their first 7 decades. It is a mixed media creation on mounted canvas with a metal strip frame, measuring approximately 19" x 41". This fine work of art is a one-of-a-kind original piece.

Future Man by Victor VallaIn 1986 the Rouse Corporation, the famous architectural and restoration developers, whose major projects included a revamping of the popular Baltimore Inner Harbor tourist area, Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, and the restoration of South Street Seaport in New York City, completed their Corporate headquarters complex in Malvern, PA. This corporation commissioned Victor Valla to create an iconic image that suggested their unique approach to rethinking the old and designing the new. In this painting a visionary Future Man is represented with his stylized head. This incredible original piece is an oil painting on canvas and has a modern maple frame with rounded corners. It measures approximately 29" x 29".

Knoxville World's Fair by Victor VallaThe Exxon Travel Club, Vista USA commissioned Victor Valla to create a series of illustrations for its magazine, one of which was for the 1984 Knoxville World's Fair. This particular illustration accompanied an article in the Spring 1984 edition about the World's Fair. Valla traveled to the site for his early research. Multiple attractions are shown, including their mascot. A variety of techniques were used, including black and white and colored pen and inks, watercolors, acrylics and colored pencils. This mixed media piece is mounted on an illustration board and measures approximately 40" x 16.5".

Major League Baseball Stadiums by Victor VallaThis Victor Valla artwork of Major League Baseball stadiums appeared in the Fall 1983 issue of Exxon Travel Club’s magazine, Vista USA, accompanying an article on sports complexes. NYSE Montage by Victor VallaVictor Valla was commissioned in early 1987 to create a painting for the cover of the New York Stock Exchange's Annual Report. This painting was considered a radical artistic concept for such a “traditional corporate entity” at the time. This original, one-of-a-kind artwork was created using mixed media and is mounted on an illustration board. It measures 22" x 30".

Political Memorabilia by Victor VallaOriginally created for the Fall 1988 issue of Vista USA, a Travel Magazine published by Exxon Corp, it was used to accompany an article on collecting political memorabilia entitled “I like Ike”. The artwork was also used by the foremost private collector, Edmund Sullivan, as a wrap-around cover for his book Collecting Political Americana. His collection of such artifacts is second in size only to that of the Smithsonian. That body of historical objects now resides in the Museum of American Political Life at the University of Hartford in Connecticut. The art was also made into a complex jigsaw puzzle by Bits and Pieces, Inc. This mixed media collage is framed in a 3" filigree gold frame and measures approximately 24" x 36".

Saturday Night Fever by Victor VallaThis mixed media artwork by Victor Valla was created in 1977 as a stylish pop illustration for Cue Magazine. It accompanied a write-up on the film, Saturday Night Fever which caused the popularity of disco music to explode around the world. John Travolta, already a household name due to his TV role on Welcome Back Cotter, exalted him to international fame. This one-of-a-kind original piece measures 20" x 30" and is on mounted canvas.

It is a realistically styled painting that was used in Business Week magazine to accompany an article for a new restaurant concept. The concept evolves from initial planning through drawing board stages to reality. A Steak and Ale offshoot, called Key West Grill, was used as an example within the article. The Mistress by Victor VallaThe Mistress by Victor Valla is an illustration that was painted to depict the premise of a short story of the same name to appear in McCalls Magazine in 1978. The image is that of a young woman who is awaiting her lover, a married man. He is aboard a train that is pulling into a station. Unknown to her, the man's wife is also there to confront them both. The Poison Tree by Victor VallaThis is an original black and white painting by Victor Valla, created for The Society of Illustrators in 1976. It is a depiction of the William Blake poem, entitled "The Poison Tree". This dramatic illustration depicts the poem's concept of jealousy, evil and an act of vengeance. A poison apple is grown, but the injured party represents it as a wonderful magical fruit that he possesses. This ploy entices his enemy to steal it, dying as a result of his own greed. This is an original work of fine art, mounted on an illustration board and measuring approximately 17" x 13".

The Story of Jonah by Victor Valla"The Story of Jonah" by Victor Valla was created in 2008 as a depiction of a specific Bible story for The Fellowship Bible Chapel of Little Rock. Valla’s four circular paintings on "The Story of Adam and Eve" had won a special purchase prize the previous year from the directors. His huge and dramatic image of a "demonic fish" (not a whale) that devoured Jonah was a huge success and drew rave notice. This breathtaking work of art was created using acrylic paints. University of Connecticut by Victor VallaThis distinguished painting was created by Victor Valla in 1994. It was to be reproduced as a fundraising print for the University of Connecticut. This large painting depicts the more formal garden area in front of the President’s house on that campus. To the right is shown the cupola of the Wilbur Cross library, the most recognizable building of the campus complex. It was created with acrylic paints on mounted canvas and measures 35" x 29".
