Erte Mystic sculpture
The Mystic sculpture by Erte is based on a costume design for Aileen Pringle in the 1925 film of the same name. The 17" high figure stands on a two-tiered black lacquered base. This theatrical costume appears to be a dress with a fur coat, however, Erte ingeniously created long flowing sleeves, trimmed in fox fur, giving the illusion of a fur coat. The details in the drapery of her scarf and sleeves suggest a great deal of movement as if the bronze is flowing down and around her neck and arms. Her gown is rendered in a rich translucent brown patina, polished to a high sheen. The relief pattern on this her sleeves and turban are covered in 23-karat yellow leaf. This sculpture was cast in bronze using the lost wax process. It is limited edition #76/375 is in mint condition. This famous sculptureās dimensions are 17 x 14 x 9.25 inches. All molds of this sculpture were destroyed upon completion of the edition. A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies this Erte sculpture. In addition, a fully glossy of the art work will be sent to the buyer. You may click on each image below to view this documentation.
