Pablo Picasso met Dora Maar in 1936. She was a French photographer, poet and painter of Croatian descent, best known for being a lover and muse of Picasso. This piece, entitled "Dora Maar Seated" presents both her profile and full face. One eye is shown looking inward, toward herself with the eyelashes of this eye emphasizing this inward direction. The other eye, which Picasso has surprisingly painted red, looks out at the world. “Dora Maar Seated” is a limited edition giclee, numbered 41/300. The original plate has been destroyed. It is beautifully framed, measuring approximately 39 1/4" x 30 7/8". A Certificate of Authenticity accompanies this piece. Click on each image to enlarge it.
